An introduction:

New chapters in one’s life happen every once in awhile and I find myself turning the page to a new chapter. Recently I have obtained my Certified Flight Instructor Certificate, but this is 2 1/2 years into my aviation story. This posting will be about introducing myself and summing up 2 1/2 years of flying. The posts to come will be about my experiences as an aviator, flight instructor, student, and the adventures I get to have along the way.

Here goes nothing,

My name is Daniel Schafer and I am an 18 year-old CFI. Flying began for me in April 2014 and it was one of the best decisions I have ever made. I have flown in 12 different airplanes, which include: a Bonanza V-tail, many different Cherokee variants, a Comanche, a Cirrus SR22, a Citabria, and an Ercoupe. With all of these aircraft, I’ve accumulated over 300 hours of flight time with additional time being added every week. The flight school I completed all my training with and the school I now teach for is Anderson Aviation TX, based out of Bulverde Airpark (1T8). Bulverde has a 2890 ft runway that is 40 ft wide, is sandwiched between two hills, and I couldn’t think of a better place to have learned. Bulverde also has a distinguishable community. I would consider the people I have meet at this airport my second family and without them, I don’t know where I would be in my aviation journey or if I would even still be around.

Moving on from Bulverde, I was blessed to have been given the opportunity of aviation. I have had many aviation adventures like: a trip to Colorado Springs, flights to airport diners, formation flying, flights along the beautiful Texas coast, flights around the active Texas weather (picture below), flights with great friends, and other little things that have left myself with memories to never be forgotten. Many experiences and adventures are to come and I’m looking forward to each and every one.

I am looking forward to sharing as much as I can in the future and I commit to posting at least once per week. For now, I’d like to share a video with my friend William and I exploring the Texas hill-country .

Till next time,
